Welcome to The Game Shelf!

After getting into the board game hobby at the end of 2014, we've decided to share our thoughts on the games we're collecting on our shelves. The collection has certainly expanded over the last few years and we've been making up for lost time!

Sometimes our opinions differ, so Amy will be posting reviews every Tuesday and Fi will post on Thursdays. We hope you enjoy reading some of our opinions on board games - especially those for two players.

Our sagging game shelves

 30th January 2015

After a good christmas 2014 our collection has grown with X-Wing Miniatures, Blokus, Dominion and The Witches. Turns out we need a dedicated game shelf.

In the last few months we've attended Stabcon South, and started going to a couple of local board game groups. Fiona has discovered ebay.
22nd May 2015

Fiona has now discovered gaming podcasts, inter-game group trading, and the bargains that can be found in charity shops. She's also discovered that the shelves on our shelving unit can be expanded.

 12th June 2015

Fiona has now discovered Board Game Geek trading and marketplace. Looks like we've expanded onto the third set of shelves, I didn't care for our DVD collection anyway.

Looking back over the last 6 months it's clear where all of our money has gone. Money well spent might I add.

23rd August 2015

We bought new shelves for the DVDs because the board games were taking over. Fiona discovered facebook trading groups. The space we gained by moving the DVDs lasted 3 days.

7th October 2015

This is it! This is all the shelf space we have and so a one in one out policy is in force. We picked up a couple of new games in New York and Fiona did a sneaky game order from Germany. A couple of good charity shop finds have also been added. Talisman and Lost Cities: The Board Game have been sacrificed.

 21st February 2016

The one in one out policy failed.

 30th June 2017

We moved house, bought lots of Kallax shelves, expanded the collection at a ridiculous rate and have now outgrown the Kallax too! Love our board game corner though!

  1. I just finished playing The Last of Us and wow, what an experience! The game's blend of intense encounters and intricate storytelling kept me hooked throughout. It's a masterpiece that sets a new standard in gaming narratives. Can't wait to discuss it further! Let's play tiles together!
